Ala Thai, Solaris Dutamas

We dropped by Ala Thai for a quick dinner the other day and wanted to try some of their specialities.

Cosied up in a corner on wooden benches with thai silk pillows and pretty lights around the interior, we couldn’t help but notice how spacious the interior was. This built up excitement for the food!

Appetizer: Yum Woon Sen (RM12.90 – 16.90). The Glass Seafood Salad as a starter was a good move as it cleansed our palates for the impending eye-squinting tastes we would face for the next dishes. We liked the fresh and sweet squid and prawns. The refreshing glass noodles infused with lime juice and spices were not too sour but made our mouths water.

Appetizer: Yum Mamuang (RM10.90 – 12.90). We tried out the mango salad as well. The strips of mango were delightfully sweet with spicy chillies. We heard that the mangoes used are Chauk Anan, a Thai honey mango. This made it different from the mango salads we were normally used to, which were more sourish. The roasted peanuts add to the crunchiness of the salad.

Main: Panang Kai (RM14.90 – 18.90). For our main, we tried the dried red curry chicken to satiate our spicy appetite and were pleased by the outcome. The slivers of chicken breast meat held the fragrant sauce to make for a really spicy bite that we immediately took a liking to this dish. The breast meat is surprisingly soft and juicy.

Although our meal was somewhat short, we would definitely re-visit to try more of what Ala Thai has to offer.
